This itinerary is designed for those who wish to plan a trip to French Polynesia independently, without going through a travel agency.
This is a destination that I know extensively and visit regularly, in very different contexts and with very different budgets.
I lived in Polynesia for over three years, exploring it in detail with a sailboat. Now I go back every year because I guide groups through the Society Islands, which I therefore know like the back of my hand. Over the years I have visited many atolls of the Tuamotu and all the Marquesas Islands, experienced firsthand the different local airlines, inter-island ferries, and many tours both on land and at sea.
I also authored a book devoted to Polynesia, which has over 350 positive reviews on Amazon, more than the Lonely Planet Tahiti…
THE PROBLEM WITH DIY TRAVEL
Polynesia is often told as a simple, “perfect” place. In reality, it is a beautiful but complex destination: significant distances, irregular connections, costs that change greatly from island to island, and logistical choices that can make a big difference on the final experience.
To give you an example, take the ferry that connects Tahiti to Bora Bora. Some people prefer it to the airplane because of schedules, budget, or because they would like to have a “local’s” experience. But those unfamiliar with those waters may not know that while the outward journey may very well be pleasant, the return from Bora Bora to Tahiti by sea on a mara’amu (strong wind) day will be a nightmarish experience that could very well ruin your vacation. This is just one example of how someone who knows Polynesia well can help you avoid negative experiences.
TESTIMONIAL
All valuable advice that only a person who has lived there can know and know. Also, Jasna is really a kind and generous person. Thank you so much for everything and for helping us make our trip so amazing! ❤️
Over time I helped very different people: some wanted to relax in a resort and be pampered, others were looking for a more authentic contact with the place and I guided them to simple accommodations, homes of local families, or even camping. Polynesia offers possibilities for very different travel styles and budgets; the point is not to choose “the right way,” but the way that suits you best.
WHAT WE ARE GOING TO DO TOGETHER
We will begin with an outline of the trip based on your time availability and desires (whether you want more “sea” or more “land,” more cultured or more diving, etc.) and the type of trip you would like to take. During the session we will analyze together:
- all transportation options (intercontinental flights, domestic flights, ferries, hydrofoils, cruises),
- best choices to avoid problems with travel,
- the differences between various islands, atolls and archipelagos to find the one that suits you,
- the options for accommodations and tours in the various islands
Based on your wishes and budget, we will build a tailor-made itinerary: realistic, sustainable and consistent with the type of trip you have in mind-not the “postcard” idea that often leads to disappointment.
I can recommend:
- Where to sleep (from simple to more comfortable solutions),
- What is really worth seeing and what can be avoided,
- What hiking to do on what island and with whom.
If you are interested in a catamaran cruise, I can also put you in touch with reliable professionals who are suited to your travel style and not chosen at random.
I will also be available for all practical questions, which are often underestimated but crucial:
- What to bring and what not to bring,
- Internet connection and SIM card,
- Use of cash and credit cards,
- Common mistakes that waste time, money or peace of mind.
IMPORTANT
An important clarification:
Organizing Polynesia alone is not always the best choice for everyone. It requires flexibility, adaptability and a good tolerance for the unexpected. This coaching is not about “selling the dream,” but about figuring out how to live it without unnecessarily complicating your life-or consciously deciding whether you should simplify. If you just have the problem of not knowing who to trust, I can give you the contacts of agencies that do a great job. But if you like to do it yourself, I will be happy to help you out.
HOW IT WORKS.
With me you can choose:
-
- a single session, to clarify specific doubts,
-
- or a three-session course, to build the journey step by step.
The full itinerary includes my gift book on Polynesia as a practical and narrative support before and during the trip.
The goal remains one:
help you experience Polynesia in the best way possible for you, with more control, less stress and expectations aligned with reality.
Because when everything is clear before leaving, the journey-even to the other side of the world-becomes much lighter.
